FAQ / NodusCad
Light Steel Framing software, explained.
Direct answers about modeling, structural analysis, detailing, project documents and NC fabrication in NodusCad.
01What is NodusCad?
NodusCad is Windows CAD software developed specifically for Light Steel Framing (LSF), also known as Light Gauge Steel (LGS) or Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) framing. It connects modeling, structural analysis, detailing, documentation and optional NC fabrication data in one model.
02Which Light Steel Framing elements can be modeled?
You can model walls, floors, roofs, trusses, stairs, panels, openings and loose members in 2D and 3D, using cold-formed steel profiles and storey-based project organization.
03Does structural calculation use the same model?
Yes. Loads, combinations, displacements and member checks are handled in the same NodusCad model used for detailing and documentation, so the structural and fabrication information remains connected.
04Which drawings and documents can NodusCad generate?
NodusCad can generate panel and assembly drawings, bills of material and project outputs in DWG, DXF, PDF and IFC, according to the plan and workflow being used.
05How do NC fabrication files work?
The optional NC module converts resolved members into machine-oriented data such as cuts, holes, dimples, swages, notches and fixing positions for roll-forming production.
06Do NC files work with every roll-forming machine?
There is no universal NC format for every machine and controller. Compatibility must be confirmed for the specific roll-forming line and its configured operations before production use.
07Which operating system does NodusCad support?
NodusCad is a desktop application for Windows.
08Is there a free NodusCad plan?
Yes. The free plan has no time limit and includes modeling and detailing. Paid plans add structural calculation and exports, while NC fabrication is an optional module.
